School Function Assessment
Understanding how a child learns, participates & thrives.
When a child finds it difficult to engage successfully in the classroom or experiences social and emotional challenges at school, a School Function Assessment can help identify the skills affecting their learning and participation.
We explore sensory, motor, information-processing, social and emotional factors that may influence your child’s ability to manage classroom activities, follow the curriculum and meet the social expectations of school. Assessment may include postural control, visual–motor skills, fine and gross motor abilities, motor planning, bilateral coordination and auditory processing skills that affect listening and comprehension.
Who May Benefit?
A School Function Assessment may be beneficial for students who:
- Have a disability, developmental delay, or medical condition
- Experience challenges with learning participation
- Require additional support at school
- Need evidence for NDIS reviews or funding applications
- Are transitioning between educational settings
- Require recommendations for equipment or environmental modifications
