At Family Connections Sydney, we understand that every child is unique and thrives best when supported in environments which are familiar and most meaningful to them. That’s why we offer mobile Occupational Therapy (OT) services—bringing our expertise directly to your child’s school, childcare/preschool, or home. 

Where We Work

• Schools: We collaborate with teachers and support staff to help your child participate fully in their learning environment. This is particularly useful for children with social, academic, or fine motor challenges.  The therapist can address the underlying difficulties preventing your child from engaging in learning, scaffold activities to build confidence, and facilitate social interactions with peers.  

• Childcare/Preschools: Our therapists work alongside educators to support your child’s development during their early years. This is particularly useful for children with social and play challenges. 

• Home: We provide therapy in the comfort and familiarity of your child’s own space, making sessions more relaxed and meaningful. This is particularly useful for young children and parents who might need extra support in facilitating developmentally appropriate, targeted activities.  For older children and adults, home sessions could be focused on self-care, and organisational goals.

We believe that a flexible, blended approach offers the greatest benefit to children and families: 

• During the School Term: Our therapists visit your child in their school, childcare, or home, making it easier for you to access support without disrupting your routine. 

• During School Holidays: We invite your child into our clinic, where we can use specialised equipment and targeted activities to build foundational skills. 

• Flexible Approach: For some children, a mixed approach works best.  Some clients benefit from being seen weekly, alternating between the clinic and their community environment (eg home, childcare, school). 

This combination ensures your child receives consistent, high-quality support throughout the year, with therapy tailored to their needs and your family’s schedule. 

Mobile services can be very beneficial but for some children, especially those with sensory processing challenges, it can be hard to build their foundational skills without specialised equipment.  That’s why it is beneficial to combine in-clinic sessions with mobile therapy.
