Funding

Family Connections Sydney offers a range of opportunities to assist you in seeking support for you and your child. Listed below is information about the funding options you can use to access our services.

Referrals

You do not need a referral to see an Occupational Therapist. Please call the office or click here to make an appointment. Any information you can provide us about your child will help ensure we are able to book the most appropriate type of service and therapist. If you have a referral from your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist under a Medicare plan you will be able to receive a rebate for our services.

Medicare – Chronic Condition Management Plan (formerly Enhanced Primary Care Plan)

Our Occupational Therapists are registered with Medicare and you may be able to claim rebates for assessment and therapy if your GP or Paediatrician refers you under a Chronic Condition Management Plan. Please contact your GP to discuss whether you and/or your child are eligible. Further details are available through the Australian Government Services Australia Website.

Medicare – Mental Health Care Plan

Our Senior Occupational Therapists are registered to provide services under a Medicare Mental Health Care Plan. You may be able to claim rebates for assessment and therapy if your GP or Paediatrician refers you under a Mental Health Care Plan. Please contact your GP to discuss whether you and/or your child may be eligible and refer to the Australian Government Services Australia Website.

Medicare – Complex Neurodevelopmental Conditions & Eligible Disability

Where a Paediatrician or a Psychiatrist suspect that a patient may have a Complex Neurodevelopmental Condition,  they can refer for Allied Health Services to assist with diagnosis and/or treatment.

Clients under 25 years of age,  may be referred for up to 4 sessions to assist with diagnoses and recommendation for treatment.

Following diagnosis, referrals from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist can approve rebates for up to 20 allied health sessions per lifetime under the Medicare Complex Neurodevelopmental Conditions & Eligible Disability treatment and management plan. Click the fact sheet for more information.

Family Connections Sydney uses Hicaps (electronic claiming) to offer direct claiming at the time of your appointment. Health funds generally pay a rebate on assessments which may be useful for you if you are needing to have your child formally assessed.
