Kimberly Elter

Kimberly is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist and Specialist Behaviour Support Clinician with a special interest in infants, children, and adolescents.  

Kimberly (Kim) is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a special interest in Sensory Integration, Autism, and developmental trauma. She has her Masters in Sensory Integration and is currently completing her Relationship Developmental Intervention (RDI®) Certification. RDI® is a holistic approach that teaches parents to guide their children, addressing core challenges such as motivation, communication, emotional regulation, executive functioning, flexible thinking, and problem solving. 

Kim attends several Australian and International Conferences throughout the year to ensure her knowledge remains current. She is trained in a number of programs the practice utilises including Integrated Listening System (iLS), Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Interactive Metronome (IM). She has completed training for SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) with inclusion of treatment for parents of children with avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (AFRID), and parents of highly dependent adult children (‘Failure to Launch’). Kim has also completed the SIVA (Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments), Train the Trainer course.  

Kim is registered with the NDIS to provide specialist behaviour support services. She oversees all OT student placements and plays a valuable role in supervision and mentoring of other clinicians within the team. 

Kim has worked in a variety of settings including child and adolescent mental health, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, special care units, special school settings and early intervention services. She has experience working with children who have physical and intellectual disabilities, sensory processing difficulties, Autism, ADHD, developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and dyspraxia as well as routine activities such as toilet training, feeding and sleep challenges. Kim has a special interest in working with young children. 

Kim values the importance of the child as part of the whole family. She is dedicated to helping individuals and their families understand and overcome the challenges they experience in everyday life.
